Colossians 3:12-15a

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.

Maggie May Kampen

For the 2 or 3 people that look at this blog anymore, it means that you know me, you know my family and you know the love that we have for Maggie and the crazy and extreme lengths we've gone for her. (she's been more expensive than all 3 kids combined:)

Around the first of the year, Maggie had a nasty bladder infection. We treated it for a few weeks with antibiotics and thought the problem was solved.

A couple of weeks later, the bladder infection came back in full force. (lots of blood in her urine) This concerned the vet and she recommended we have an ultrasound done on her bladder to see if there was something more to this issue.

They saw a mass (or masses). The vet said that anytime they see these types of masses it typically means cancer. And bladder cancer is aggressive. Life span once diagnosed is about 6 months.

Gulp. Tears. Tears. And more tears.

We had 3 options:
1) scope the mass, have it tested and see what it could be = $1500
2) perform major surgery on her abdomen, remove the mass completely, test it, see what it is = $3000+
2.5) Doing that would then possibly lead to seeing a cancer specialist, possibly chemo and a host of other things = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
3) continue the antibiotics to treat the bladder infection for the next 6 weeks and then have another ultrasound to see if the mass has changed or is gone = $ no where nearly as expensive as the above options

We went with option #3. So, for 6 weeks we gave Maggie her medicine and prayed like crazy.

On Friday, April 5th, we took Maggie back into the vet for her ultrasound. The ultrasound was at 2pm. The vet called me at 2:43pm and she said "I have fantastic news for you! The masses are COMPLETELY GONE!!!!!!!!!"

Cue waterworks! Tears of joy and relief poured from my eyes and yes, some snot from my nose. Ugly cry face was in full effect and I couldn't have been more elated!! Seriously, GOD HEALED OUR HOUND DOG! There's nothing else to it.

Jeremy later told me about the grave conversation that he had with the vet when she told him about the masses. She had basically said that when they see these things, it means cancer, they don't just go away. They've seen it before and the outcome is never good.

Well, God had a different plan in mind! He's not quite ready for Maggie to join Him in Heaven. I guess He thinks that our little family needs her too much here....and He's right. Our family wouldn't be the same without our Maggie May!
