Colossians 3:12-15a

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.

i heart my babies!

If you don't have a pair of TOMS for your little girl, then you must go and get a pair. They are the cutest things on little feet!! Mackenzie picked out her "twinkle toe" pink sparkly ones and we're both in love with them:)

She's suddenly gotten into soccer lately. Daddy, of course, is loving it! Finally, she's somewhat interested in a sport! (he doesn't relate well to Disney Princesses)

This is her newest thing - the HUGE smile. Love it!!

We laid low this morning since Conner was sick with the stomach bug over the weekend. Mackenzie wanted Conner to sit in her lap while they watched cartoons. Heart melting!

Here's that smile again!

And again! She's wearing her flower girl dress for my sister's wedding.

And I had to put this picture in because I'm in love with Conner's little smile too!

Kitchen: Before & After

I feel like it takes me a while to figure out what I want to do with my house decor-wise sometimes.

Case in point: window treatments for my kitchen. It took me over 3 years to finally decide on something. Better late than never.

I'm in love!! Thank you to my wonderful mom-in-law, Jan for making them for me. They are just perfect!!

Here's the BARE before

And after. Cozy. Comfortable. Casual.

I made an ugly little pillow for the window seat. I need to make another one, I know. I'm just terrible at making pillows especially the ones with ruffles around the outside like this one!

Diaper Koozie

I got a new diaper bag and the inside pockets just are big enough for diapers. Plus, it grosses me out when diapers are just out in the open waiting for goldfish crumbs and whatever else lives inside my bag to get inside the diaper only to have that diaper up against my child's privates. There's enough to clean down there that I don't need food, crayons, etc to clean out too! (yes, TMI)

Sooooo, I made myself a little Diaper Koozie. No more goldfish or raisins in my kiddo's diaper!

Crazy Kids!

Today is a GREAT Monday!

1) The kids slept until 8:20am (loving this time change!)
2) We snuggled in bed until 9am watching cartoons
3) We did a Starbucks run at 10am still in our jammies
4) Mackenzie and Conner have been playing together all day SO well!
5) They did awesome at Target
6) Mackenzie asked if Conner could take a nap with her because she wanted to snuggle with him. Ummm...heart just melted!!! Didn't work though - Conner kept trying to get out of the bed. It's progress people!

Here are my crazy kids in action!

Love that little smile and dimple. He's a heart breaker!

Dang boy! He's got some elephant teeth!

Kiki is being a puppy dog here (note: it's 12:30pm and we're still in our jammies)

Conner is curious about what she's doing

And he's mimicking her

Here's Kiki Puppy laying on Maggie's bed

Kiki wanted Conner to sit in her lap during lunch. This worked for about 10 seconds before Conner leaned off to the side and landed on his head. Oops! But like I said, it's progress:)

Headband Holder

Moms of girls....do you ever find the drawer where you keep your daughter's hair things getting stuck because the headbands pop up and won't allow the drawer to open or close easily?

Well, I have the solution for you!
(I sound like an info-mercial:)

You don't need a sewing machine. You don't have to be handy with the glue gun. All you have to do is eat some oatmeal. I'm serious. Or at least buy a large rounded container of oatmeal (get the real stuff if you want to be healthy) and empty it out. Decorate the outside as you wish. And there you have it!

Note to self: don't use superglue when working with ribbon. It bleeds through and looks like a wet spot as show above. Oh well!

Mmmm cakes balls

Just some pictures of my kids stuffing their faces with cake balls.

Dining Room: Before & After

I finally have tackled the dining room curtains!

This has been on my to do list since January. It was just a matter of finding time to get down to the fabric store. I kept hoping to go without the munchkins but there just isn't enough time on the weekend. So, my poor little guy had to endure the dreaded fabric store. He did great!

On to my dining room.....

Here is the before sans curtains

We got a new dining room table and a new mirror. I've got the china cabinet all organized but something was still missing.

And vola! Here they are! They look a bit more gold in the pictures than they really are. Either way, I love them!! Hooray for sewing!

Proverbs 30:8-9

Keep falsehood and lies far from me:
give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.
Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, 'Who is the LORD?' Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.

This is going to be my verse for 2011.

We - me, you, all of us - live in the land of excess! I was reading that the average home size back in the 1950's was around 900 - 1,000 square feet. Nowadays it's upwards of 2,400 sq ft. The average family size back then was 3.67 and now it's 2.something-or-the-other. On average we live in homes that consist of around 900 sq ft PER PERSON!

THAT'S INSANE!

Yes, I'm completely at fault on this one. I love my home, but my home to me is my family. Where my family is, there my home will be too. I would love to trade in this house for something smaller.  I believe that God gave us this house - He absolutely did and it was a wonderful gift! And we have tried to used it to honor Him.  But it's time to downsize....to get a bit more cozy with one another!

But it's not just the house.....it's everything.

It's being prideful about cars. Last week we went and test drove minivans. Yes, I said minivans. I never thought in a million years I would drive a minivan. To be transparent, I thought I was too good to drive such a thing. Who am I!?!? Lindsay Nicole, get over yourself!! How totally shallow and materialistic of me!! In fact, I'm quite disappointed in myself and anyone else who has those thoughts. A car is a car. I am thankful for even having the opportunity to just think about buying one.

As Solomon says in Ecclesiastes 2:11 "Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun."

This life is not about success, riches, material possessions - it's ALL about God! I desire to have only what God desires for me to have. I desire to be exactly where God wants me to be. And I desire to find contentment with only that which God has provided. "When God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work - this is a gift of God." (Ecc 5:19)

I'm not saying I'm perfect or I'm above all of this. I'm a TOTAL work in progress. It's just something that's on my heart, something that I have to work on and will be working on.

The BFF & The Horse

One of my most favorite people in the whole wide world has moved back to Dallas for the time being, Shelby!!!

Her husband is in the Navy and has been deployed so she decided to move back and live with her parents for the next few months. I'm thrilled!!! We haven't lived near each other while being in the same "life stage" in years!

Shelby is quite the equestrian so we took a little trip out to where she keeps her horse, Uzi. If you didn't know, my kids love, love, love horses!! We have a tradition of going to feed them every Sunday on the way to church. So, this was a bit of heaven for the munchkins.

Shelby and her little girl, McCall (so fun that we have little ones ages 3, 2, and 1!)

boo....what's going on here?!

McCall enjoyed eating the carrots more so than feeding them to Uzi

Conner would just crack up whenever he'd come close to Uzi. He thought Uzi was the greatest thing!

My son is about to eat a piece of horse crap! SUCH A BOY!!!

Meanwhile, my dainty little girl prefers her goldfish and staying clean.

Horses are such beautiful creatures!

Playing in the dirt, eating dirt, etc

FILTHY!

Mackenzie was a good helper (when she wanted to be) by brushing Uzi
