Colossians 3:12-15a

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.

Maine

Jeremy and I headed north a couple weeks ago for a nice little getaway. We went to Kennebunkport, Maine. Not real sure how we decided on that location. I think it had something to do with cooler weather, the potential "look" of fall with leaves changing color, Fenway Park and a lot to do with lobster. Oh glorious lobster!

We traveled in style from Boston to Kennebunkport. This is a Fiat. It would easily fit into the back of Jeremy's truck. Yes, we got many strange looks but it got great gas mileage!

When we landed in Boston we headed straight to Fenway Park hoping to catch some of the Sox vs. Rays game at a sports bar close by. We got something better! We got tickets to the game and actually got to experience the intensity of true Red Sox fans. It was cool! And it's a tiny ballpark!

The place was packed and everyone was wearing Sox gear except for us (at least that's what it felt like!)

Quick look! It's MIT. We tried to absorb as much intelligence as we could as we drove by MIT and Harvard. Those peeps are "wicked smart" (say it with the accent like they do in Good Will Hunting)

On to Kennebunkport. Heaven. Absolutely beautiful! Weather was in the mid-60's with sunshine. Then it would drop down into the 50's at night and we would freeze. Loved it!!

Here's the view out of our hotel window/sliding glass door.

Our hotel. Would highly recommend it!! The Yachtman's Hotel and Lodge. Right on the water, tasty breakfast provided, bike and canoe usage come free with your room and it's 5 minutes walking distance from the center of town.

The ducks that lived outside of our room....might have something to do with the next picture

George Sr. and Barbara Bush have a family compound in Kennebunkport - that's maybe what the town is most known for. (scroll down for pics of their place) They live here during the summer and were there while we were in town hence the Secret Service boat parked outside our hotel. Pretty cool!

Good seafood!

Inside we picked our lobster, the guy boiled right then, cracked the shell, gave us some butter and we were good to go! I ate my body weight in lobster that week, I think.

Our other mode of transportation while touring around.

There are some really neat historical things up in the northeast. We found an old, old cemetery outside of town. Here's a tombstone from 1792. Old.

We took out the canoe for a bit. Proved a bit challenging with the tide come in.

Walker's Point
This is where the Bush family has a place (or I should say placeS). There's one large home and then a bunch of other homes around. Plus, some quarters outside the huge gate for secret service.

After we explored Kennebunkport we headed to the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire. We really went up there in hopes of seeing a moose or a bear. But unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed. No wildlife was seen.

We found this hole in the wall seafood place on the side of the road and it was delicious!! Just what we needed to fuel us up (or weigh us down with all the fried clams and clam chowder) for our mountainous hike.

The drive to the hiking destination

We picked a poor day to go hiking. It was overcast and rainy all day. But the good Lord did not disappoint! The rain quit once we started hiking. It was still a tricky hike with everything being slippery and wet but I've never seen such a green and lush place before! Please, God, bring this rain to Texas!

Interesting little mushrooms growing up the sides of the trees.

We went on the "falling waters" hiking trail so I'll apologize in advance for the many, many pictures of waterfalls. They were all too beautiful not to take pictures of.

Frodo, are you there? Doesn't think look like something from the Lord of the Rings? Well, I thought so anyway.

The one picture of us together from the entire trip and you can obviously tell it was a self portrait.

Back to Kennebunkport (it's a mouth-full to say and to type every time!) So I will now refer to it as KBP

Our last day we just tooled around and I took too many pictures and made Jeremy stop several times on the way back to Boston to take pictures. I am so good at annoying him!

An old little church in KBP. I believe it was built in 1762 or something like that....it was old.

This farm looks like it's from a storybook. So cute! I think I could live here!!

The at the hydrangeas! They were everywhere and absolutely beautiful!!

These last few pictures are some of the spectacular homes around KBP. Yes, I annoyed Jeremy by constantly telling him to look at this house or that house. I was always ooohhhhing and awwwing over these beautiful places some lucky person gets to call home!

The house was right behind our hotel. Kinda jealous:)

This house is on the market for $2.6 million. It overlooks the ocean, is 4700 sq ft and was built in 1895. So cool!! Doesn't quite fit in the Kampen budget though.

And that's our trip! If you're ever interested in going, please holler at me. It was so nice and relaxing. The perfect escape from the 100+ degree heat we've been having here!
